Written in perl these scripts simply create and manage a database of available files. The list page is created from the database of files and their descriptions. As the database is updated the the web page is updated too.

Editing of the database is done in a browser window using the supplied perl database editor. The editor displays a list of database entries. Clicking on the entry you wish to edit opens the entry in an edit window allowing the entry to be edited or deleted.

The database editor also includes an upload system to upload new files through a standard web browser and add the required entries into the database file.

Version 1.5 integrates the encrypted authentication system. You are required to download and install the authentication system V1.4 to use the download editor with this version. Authentication system is also free to download and use and is available on this site from the downloads section.
Other updates include the update of the user interface to better present the data in the database editor. There is now the facility to just upload files or just database entries. There is now a file management tool for renaming or deleting the uploaded files.

What do I need

The script requires a perl interpreter to run. Perl is common on most unix systems simply upload the files edit the dlconfig.pl file to suit your setup and away you go.

The script is intended for use with the apache web sever this is the reason for generating html output.

The script uses cgi to generate a html file with the download entries in it. To use simply insert the tag DOWNLOADS in your html file where you want the entries to appear.
